Shinji Hattori, Chairman and CEO of Seiko Watch Corp., gives a taste of Baselworld 2018
Baselworld: What can visitors at Baselworld look forward to discovering at Seiko’s stand this year?
Shinji Hattori: Baselworld is the occasion on which we release our 2018 collection to the world for the first time. Retailers, watch lovers and media alike look to Baselworld as the moment where they can see the very best and most upscale watches. Visitors to the Seiko Pavilion will therefore be able to see the very latest and best and most prestigious new creations, in both Grand Seiko and Seiko.
What are you personally looking forward to at Baselworld 2018?
The new format of Baselworld will mean that visitors will be able to spend more time at the stands of the most important brands, and we therefore look forward to being able to show our new collections to more visitors than ever. Thanks to the more concentrated format, we hope that we can convey to our guests a deeper understanding of the Grand Seiko and Seiko worlds.
In your opinion, how important is Baselworld for the industry?
Baselworld remains by far the watch industry’s most important event and we view it as a vital landmark in our year. We will hold around 700 individual meetings with customers and media representatives at the Seiko Pavilion this year. Only Baselworld gives us this great opportunity.
