Modern with a historical twist
Reservoir launches the Longbridge British Racing
The DNA of the still young French brand “Reservoir”, which was founded in Paris in 2015 and has its watches manufactured in La Chaux-de-Fonds, is dominated by old historical precision instruments from the golden era of car racing in the 20th century. The Longbridge model series refers stylistically to the English city of the same name, where cars have been produced since 1905. The dial’s design was inspired by the instrumental and intuitively readable style of the counters and dashboard instruments of those bygone years. The minutes are indicated by a retrograde hand, while the hour is shown on a jumping indicator at “6 o’clock”. Directly below it is a power reserve display designed to resemble the fuel gauge in an automobile. Augmented with a patented module, ETA Calibre 2824-2 faithfully keeps time under the British racing green dial and inside is the 39-mm case, which is made from 316L stainless steel.
Taking its inspiration from vintage measuring instruments, RESERVOIR is meant to be the reflection of eras full of cult objects: from automobile races to military aviation or the universe of submarines. The RESERVOIR timepieces are innovative thanks to its radical time display by combining three horological complications Swiss Made. The retrograde minute at 240° recalls the R.P.M. counters, the jumping hour recalls mileage meters and the power reserve display echoes the fuel gauges.
