“A real challenge for everyone!”
How long have you been going to Baselworld?
Valérie Messika: We’ve been attending this show, which is the real reference point for international luxury, for more than 10 years. The show has allowed me to grow my brand thanks to new clients and good-quality international distributors.
And you have opted for a very big stand...
Valérie Messika: Yes, in fact for the last two years, we have created a 1,000 sqm stand, which confirms our confidence in the show. In return, we expect quality service and our expectations to be listened to.
What are your expectations for the Baselworld show, which will be opening its doors shortly?
Valérie Messika: We are really looking forward to the show this year and hope we will have a good environment of brands around our stand. It’s also a real challenge for the show to attract international buyers back from places like the United States and Asia, as well as to attract the international press.
What do you think of the new strategies which have been put in place by the show?
Valérie Messika: Emphasising expertise is important in order to showcase the work of the jewellery and watch-making industry. It also helps explain the costs of production and execution times to buyers. The show needs to find its feet again and attract buyers back by also offering new designers who will be the big brands of the future. I have had the opportunity to create a real brand, the same chance should be given to others in order to get things moving in the sector and add to its attractiveness.
