Mined in Brazil only relatively recently, the Paraíba Tourmaline is one of the most rare and beautiful stones on Earth thanks to the elements that come together to form its alluring turquoise blue hue. Used in timepieces by only a handful of the finest luxury watch brands since its discovery 30 years ago in 1989, the Paraíba consists of gold, copper and manganese and is more expensive than diamonds, emeralds and even rubies due to its scarcity. Because it is very fragile, there is significant loss during baguette cutting.
However, Hublot pursued and now offers four different versions. They include the Big Bang Unico Paraíba 45 mm made in King Gold or white gold and set with 48 baguette-cut and 388 brilliant-cut stones, and the Big Bang One Click Paraíba 39 mm watch offered in either white gold or King Gold and set with 48 baguette-cut Paraíba tourmalines on the bezel, 11 brilliant-cut stones on the dial.
