Like the legendary 911, a benchmark for sports cars since 1963, the timepiece provokes with its minimalist design and uncompromising functionality. Synonymous with racing, victory and emotion, the 911 was also the inspiration for Porsche Design, founded by Professor Ferdinand Alexander Porsche in 1972. Back then, the company introduced the Chronograph I, the first matte black chronograph, mirroring the 911’s speedometer and tachometer.
The new 1919 Chronotimer Flyback Black & Leather, made entirely of titanium, is a continuation of this uncompromising design and has a clear focus on functionality: an all-black understated interpretation of the classic designed by F. A. Porsche. The sleek design of the generously proportioned dial focuses on the essentials, while the dark contrast guarantees excellent legibility.
It is powered by Porsche Design’s C.O.S.C.-certified automatic movement Werk 01.200 – equipped with a flyback complication. The movement’s exposed automatic bridge provides an unobstructed view of the flyback mechanism and the automatic gears, thereby systematically implementing Porsche’s approach to lightweight engineering. The energy-optimised rotor from Porsche Design, visible through the sapphire crystal back, is PVD-coated and carries a tungsten weight. Thanks to its heft, the material helps provide the energy necessary for maximum winding power.
