In flight mode
Absolute reliability and intuitive legibility: nowhere are these virtues as crucial for survival as in a pilot’s wristwatch. Exclusively dedicated to this genre of timepiece since 2005, Bell & Ross offers professional pilot’s wristwatches in authentic instrument style inspired by the instruments in aircraft cockpits.
The BR03-92 BI-Compass relies on a sophisticated technical approach to clearly differentiate its time displays. Like its role models in airplane cockpits, the two-level dial indicates the hours in its centre, the minutes in its outer area, and the seconds concentrically between the two. To graphically emphasize these distinctions, a green triangle indicates the hours through the intermediate concentric disc, while off-white hands tirelessly sweep their arcs to show the seconds and the minutes.
This colour scheme corresponds to the one that’s used aboard US Navy aircraft. The typography is also designed to meet practical requirements and is similar to the analogue counters used in aviation. The styling of the square case likewise grants top priority to legibility: the case’s antireflective matte-black ceramic finish prevents glaring reflections.
Self-winding calibre BR-CAL.302 serves as the mechanical flight computer inside the case, which remains watertight to a depth of 100 meters. The BR03-92 BI-Compass is manufactured in a limited edition of 999 timepieces.
